In 2018, European Union had an estimated population of 513,213,363 with an average increase of 3,829,503 people per year. With a GDP of $15,931,983,317,841 USD and a resulting GDP per-capita of $31,043.59 USD. The average population density was 128.41 people for square kilometre.

Since 1990, European Union has imported an estimated 106,603,920,000 kg (kilograms) of green bean coffee, averaging 3,675,997,241 kg each year. Roasting and re-exporting an estimated 1,259,851,034 kg each year on the global market .

Looking at the start and end figures for this period, overall, imports of green bean coffee in European Union have increased. Whilst re-exports of roasted coffee have decreased.

European Union Green Bean Coffee Import Data

European Union green bean coffee imports were at the lowest in 1991 at an estimated 2,637,000,000 kg.

The importing of green bean coffee was at its highest in 2018. With an estimated total of 5,032,140,000 kg of green bean coffee being imported.

European Union Re-Exports of Roasted Coffee

In European Union re-exports of coffee, now roasted, was at its highest in 2018 with an estimated 2,348,400,000 kg being roasted coffee being exported from the country. In 1990 re-exports were at the lowest point with 465,000,000 kg being re-exported for consumption elsewhere.

The statistical coffee data shows that, since 1990, a total of 36,535,680,000 kg (36,535,680 tonnes) of coffee has been roasted and re-exported by European Union. Averaging 1,259,851,034 kg per year during times of active exporting. On the whole, re-exporting of coffee has gone down during this period.

ICO Composite Indicator Import Prices

The price per kilogram per kilogram of green bean coffee paid by European Union is estimated to have been at the highest in 2011 at an estimated $4.64USD/kg. The data also shows that this price was the lowest during 2001 at an estimated $1.01/kg.

To conclude, the statistical coffee data shows that the purchase price per kilogram of green bean coffee in European Union has increased. Averaging $2.31USD per kilo.
